The study was performed on (180) participants and included two groups (120 patients with type 2 diabetes aged (35-65 years) excluding neuropathy, retinopathy, and thyroid dysfunction, and 60 participants aged (32-65 years) as healthy control subjects. Venous blood samples of approximately 5ml were collected from patients and control participants with the approval of the ethics committee of Baghdad Teaching Hospital throughout the period from 1st September 2023 to 15th May 2024. The results showed p<0.01 for the adiponectin values between each age. The values were increased with increasing age respectively. The results also showed P>0.05 between male and female values of vitamin D and adiponectin. For the mean value of BMI for patients and control groups there was P<0.01 between them. The mean value of vitamin D for patients was significantly lower than that of the control group it was p <0.01 for the values of vitamin D between each age and it decreases with increasing age respectively. The mean value of adiponectin in the patients’ group was lower than that of the control group. The mean value of vitamin D for control with normal weight and overweight showed P>0.05 between them. The mean value of adiponectin for normal weight and overweight showed P>0.05 between them. The values of blood urea, and creatinine highly significant differences between patients and control while there is no significant difference in uric acid.
